Rathlin Ramble - organised sponsored walk for Meningitis Reseach Foundation
Description
Local meningitis charity, Meningitis Research Foundation (MRF) has organised an amazing walk which will take in the wonders of Rathlin Island on the last day of the summer season, Sunday 11th September.
A rare and untamed beauty, Rathlin Ireland remains a popular spot for tourists, wild-life enthuses, photographers and the curious! This organised 5 mile tour will be led by a local guide who will share a wealth of knowledge of the island on this leisurely ramble. There will also be an opportunity to stop for lunch and free time at the end to relax, celebrate your achievement and enjoy peaceful island life before boarding the ferry.
MFR Fundraising Officer, Ashley Whittley noted, ‘Three years on and the support for this walk remains strong. Local people and those further afield appreciate the opportunity to tour the island as well as raise money for MRF’.
Registration fees are £15 per adult, £5 for Senior Citizens with a valid Smart Pass and £5 for children aged 5-15 years. This includes your return ferry and services of a guide. The charity also asks participants to aim to raise a minimum of £45 sponsorship in support of their vital work.
Meningitis and septicaemia affect around 3,400 people in the UK and Ireland each year. They are easily mistaken for milder illnesses, but unlike a dose of flu they can kill within hours or cause serious, life-long disabilities for survivors. Anyone at any age can be affected and being aware of the symptoms and acting fast is crucial to saving lives and reducing disability. .
Let’s get ready to ramble around Rathlin for a great cause – spaces are limited so register today! Please email contact our office by calling 028 9032 1283.
