At Sue Ryder not only do we treat more conditions than any other UK charity in our hospices, neurological care centres and out in the community; we also campaign to improve the lives of people living with them. We see the person, not the condition, taking time to understand the small things that help that person live the fullest life they can. Our shops, fundraising and volunteers support us to be there for people at the most difficult time of their lives.
Our growing numbers of shops are one of the most important ways in which we raise money to support people living through the challenges of life-changing illness. So when you become an Assistant Manager at one, you're not just helping us to turn a profit - you're helping to improve the lives of the people we exist to help.
Our shops are a much-loved part of the high street around the country. As Assistant Shop Manager, you'll help to create a well-presented shop where customers get great service. It's a varied role, offering invaluable support to the manager, as you maximise sales, control expenditure and handle stock as part of a dedicated team. Remember that you could often be moving stock - which may involve lifting heavy goods or furniture.
To do this, you need to have retail experience, preferably in a supervisory position, be organised and IT-literate, with natural teamwork skills. You should also have a GCSE-level education, good basic arithmetic and a gift for dealing with people. With these talents, you'll deliver retail excellence to grow income and make a difference to Sue Ryder Healthcare and the people we support.
