Description
In very good cosmetic condition, but currently in need of some kind of repair.
I have been told that there is either an intermittent spark from it, or poor fuel delivery which is causing it to stutter and smoke a little, which I was going to repair myself even if the coil or carburettor needed replacing as these are incredibly cheap, but with the speed the grass is currently growing, I didn’t have time so I used this as an excuse to buy a new mower.
These are incredibly simple machines to strip down, so even a competent DIY’er could fix this for buttons and when bearing in mind that an equivalent 18” petrol mower would be upwards of £300 to buy new, a bargain is up for grabs here.
It has the Briggs and Stratton 35 classic 4 stroke engine, a huge collection box and is designated for medium to large lawns. There are no leaks of any kind and it has just had synthetic 5W30 engine oil put in it
Everything works well; the self-propulsion is via the rear wheels, there is no rust on the exhaust or any external steel component as it has always been garaged during my ownership.
It will still start after a few pulls of the cord and before it started playing up; it started first time every time and cut the lawn superbly.
The problem could be as simple as old fuel needing to be flushed out and replaced with fresh, or it is in need of a carburettor overhaul, I honestly do not know and as I have bought a new mower (another self-propelled Qualcast) this one is surplus to requirements.
Collection is from SK6, Woodley/Greave.
