What would you give to fight food poverty? How about 3 hours?
Description
How far would you go to fight food poverty this year? How about your local Tesco?
We’re looking for volunteers to step up to the plate and give 3 hours of their time to play a vital role in the fight against food poverty in the UK, by asking shoppers to donate store-cupboard staples to the pop-up collection points in Tesco stores. Your role is to encourage people to give. A small contribution makes a big difference!
The Neighbourhood Food Collection is taking place from the 31st of June to the 2nd of July in Tesco stores across the UK.
The food we collect at the Neighbourhood Food Collection includes things like tinned fish, pasta, rice and tea, which don’t appear as surplus very often. By collecting these missing ingredients from Tesco customers, we can provide our charity partners with essential store-cupboard staples, alongside the surplus meat, dairy and fruit and veg we receive from the food industry. Tesco don’t profit from the event as they give a financial contribution equal to 20% of the value of the food donated, money we can use to keep our warehouses running, our chillers cool and our vans on the road.
In just 3 hours you can collect enough store-cupboard staples for five hundred meals for people in need. It’s a good opportunity to volunteer as a group or on your own, and to meet new people.
If you'd like to get involved please reply to this advert and we will get in touch with more details.
